Learning objectives
The course aims to make practical activities useful to:
- Describe and identify a living plant using botanical terms
- Recognize large and common families of European and Mediterranean non flowering and flowering plants
- Identify the most common plant species using dichotomous analytical keys, interactive or traditional, based on macroscopic and microscopic morphology
- Exhibit basic knowledge in anatomical approaches applied to Systematics
- Prepare a representative collection of plant specimens

- Credit 1: Laboratory exercises for the use of taxonomic keys for plant identification of ferns, and gymnosperms using stereoscope and microscope
- Credit 2: Laboratory exercises for the use of taxonomic keys for plant identification of angiosperms using stereoscope and microscope
- Credit 3: How to realize a scientific herbarium
- Credit 4: How to realize a data-base of herbarium data
- Credit 5: The use of software-assisted tools for plant taxonomy and morphometric methods
